Our vision is for all students to be able to contribute towards the continuous improvement of the school community.
A Student Council is a representative structure for students, through which they can become involved in the affairs of the school, working in partnership with school management, staff and parents for the benefit of the school and the students.
Student Council duties
- Share the views of their classmates during the Student Council meetings.
- Encourage their classmates to fill in the communicate their thoughts and ideas
- Attend Student Council meetings and take part in discussions
- Report back to their classmates what was discussed and decided during the meetings
- Complete, on time, the tasks decided upon during the Student Council meeting.
Student Council Aims
- improve their learning and, as a consequence, their academic success and progress;
- represent the student body and ensure all voices are heard;
- communicate effectively with teachers and management to share information with class councils and to make realistic requests;
- be able to have a say in decisions and to play an active role in making their school a better place for all.
The Student Council Election Procedures
The school psychologist announces the student council and its criteria inside the classes. Students who want to join the student council need to sign-up for this position.
Students campaign to try to persuade their classmates to vote for them.
Students vote for the candidate of their choice on ballot paper. When the whole class has voted the votes are counted and the results are posted on the Student Council notice board.
Student Council meetings:
The Student Council meets with school management four times a year .
Student Council liaison team member “ School Principal, PYP Coordinator, Psychologist".
Liaison team members role:
- Attending regular meetings.
- Act as a link between students and staff.
- Have a voice but not a vote.
- They are a source of information for the student council.
